PANDA is excited to be organising a 4 day intensive training course in the facilitation of the Liz Lerman's Critical Response Process led by the co-author of CRP John Borstel himself: March 16-19th 10am - 4.30pm.
We are inviting applications from individuals who care about helping others create better work for whom CRP would be a valuable addition to their toolbox. A mix of backgrounds and variety of experience will be useful for this process - which can be applied to artistic making (set/lighting/production design, scripts, performance, exhibits, crafts and sound etc) as well as any other work in progress (strategic plans, curriculum, products, buildings, programmes etc).
Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process (CRP) is a facilitated, four-step method for giving and getting feedback on work in progress. Employed by artists, educators, and institutions around the world, it emphasises the values of dialogue, inquiry, and discovery to afford makers an active role in the critique of their own work.
Course Facilitator - John Borstel is a maker, administrator, teacher, avid audience member, and advocate for the work of fellow artists - 21 years on the staff of Dance Exchange (USA) He has coordinated numerous projects in documentation, dissemination, and evaluation, reflecting the stage and community work of this innovative performance company, founded by choreographer/educator/author Liz Lerman in 1976. He is co-author and illustrator of Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process and has traveled widely to teach and facilitate this unique feedback system, which emphasizes the values of dialogue and active involvement by the artist. As an artist at the crossroads of photography, performance, and text, John’s award-winning work has been seen in galleries throughout the US and in England and Israel.
PANDA's 4 Day Intensive Course -
Critical Response Process: The Coaching Connection
Our 4 day course is particularly aimed at those with coaching, directing, creative producing or action learning training and experience.
It mirrors effective coaching by challenging makers to integrate thought and action, make their own discoveries, and find their own solutions. This training course for arts/creativity coaches/facilitators will offer an immersion into the roles and steps of CRP and explore its applications in the coaching/facilitation process through a series of variations and exercises. Participants in this highly experiential intensive will have numerous opportunities to apply these methods to diverse works-in-progress - from scripts to curated exhibitions and from choreography to strategic plans.
This course will be held at HOME, First Street, Manchester and costs £195.
For those interested in finding out more about this Process and it's potential applications but who cannot commit to the 4 day intensive, we're offering an Introductory Workshop Monday 16th March 10.30am - 1pm. Through conversation and a participatory demonstration, this two-and-a-half hour workshop will reflect on the definition of good feedback, introduce the roles and steps of CRP, and elucidate its effective applications.
This Workshop will run on Monday 16th March from 10.30am - 1pm and costs £55 or £35 for PANDA members. Apply by sending your CV by 19th Feb. See links for full details.
