On 25 May 2016 this Select Committee of the House of Lords was appointed “to consider issues related to sustaining the charity sector and the challenges of charity governance, and to make recommendations.”
They have published their report 'Stronger Charities for a Stronger Society' which is wide ranging in its findings and recommendations. The report gives 42 recommendations on key issues affecting the charity sector. It is positive to see the unique value and needs of small, local groups acknowledged and addressed throughout the report.
We recommend reading the summary by Localgiving (through whom we recently did our first PANDA Crowdfunder and whom we've found to be strong advocates for smaller not for profits). Link is provided for both Localgiving and the report itself.
