Call for Artists and Companies to Get Involved in Creative Breaks
PANDA has secured funding for a new young people's project and welcomes back Project Officer for Young People, Nicky Hatton, to deliver the scheme.
We’re very pleased to announce that we’ve secured funding to deliver a new project as part of our young person’s service. The project is called Creative Breaks and it’s a free work experience scheme for 13-17 year olds and people with disabilities who have expressed an interest in performing arts careers. We’re now recruiting PANDA artists and companies to take part.
The Creative Breaks Project
The idea is that PANDA supports 15 individuals and 15 PANDA artists/companies to come together and complete a 2-week, structured work placement. We intend to set up a range of placements across the performing arts sector and match up participants with their specific interests. PANDA will work closely with the artist/company to choose the right person and support in all aspects of the planning and delivery of the placement, with a view to creating structured activities that will be of benefit to both participants.
Financial assistance will also be available to cover the costs of hosting a work experience placement.
The two-week placements will take place between September 2009 and April 2010 based on the availability of each artist/company.
In addition to raising the profile of your work, Creative Breaks is a great opportunity for you to broaden your audience, and engage people with specific access needs in your practice. In the long term we hope that Creative Breaks will act as a model for other companies and artists to engage young and disabled people in their work, and help to provide new pathways into the industry.
