June Creative Conversation on Creative Producing
The next PANDA Creative Conversation takes place on Tuesday 2nd June 2009 at greenroom, our partners in the Creative Conversations series.
PANDA members with at least two years professional experience are invited to apply to join the pool of participants for Creative Conversations. Once selected pool participants are then eligible to attend the monthly events, including our June event:
Creative Producing
With special guest speakers Debra King from FKUK and Richard Sobey from IOU Theatre.
We are delighted to welcome two highly, experienced Creative Producers to June’s Creative Conversation. Producers can be described as individuals and/or organisations who work with artists to make great ideas happen. The producer takes the lead in navigating between a bold vision of an idea, and how feasibly – and brilliantly – to deliver it. Working with the artist, the producer works out how to locate the idea and bring it to life in the world of its audience. The artist and the producer can therefore be seen as the two primary roles in the creation of great new work and its engagement with the public.
Debra King is an independent Producer who has worked for many years in a Creative Producer role with FKUK. She has an extensive network within the arts industry nationally and internationally and has produced and artistically directed international, national and regional events, festivals, conferences, educational and community programmes.
Richard Sobey is the Executive Producer for IOU Theatre Company. Richard has just returned from seven months working in China and hopes to give an overview of international networking as part of his presentation, reflecting on skills, practicalities and partnerships required for Creative Producing and how projects develop through partnerships and planning.

Creative Conversations are intimate forums for debate, discussion and informal networking for more established performing arts practitioners.
Creative Conversations take place on the first Tuesday of every month at greenroom.

Selected practitioners accepted into the pool
are be invited to attend each Creative Conversations event. There is a fee of £8 per session which contributes to
the cost of refreshments and bringing in the VIP speakers.
