November Creative Conversation on Why the Octagon Theatre, Bolton?
The next PANDA Creative Conversation takes place on Tuesday 3rd November 2009 at greenroom, our partners in the Creative Conversations series.
PANDA members with at least two years professional experience are invited to apply to join the pool of participants for Creative Conversations. Once selected, pool participants are then eligible to attend the monthly events, including our the next Creative Conversation:
Why the Octagon Theatre, Bolton?
With special guest speaker David Thacker, the new Artistic Director of Octagon Theatre, Bolton.
Internationally renowned stage and television director David Thacker has just commenced his appointment as Artistic Director of the Octagon Theatre. Having announced an ambitious and varied main house season for 2009-2010, David has also programmed a series of studio performances and interactive events for audiences in the accompanying 'Bolt-On' calendar which also includes free workshops for budding directors and actors. His first production All My Sons runs until 24th October.
Having run the Old Vic in London for nearly 10 years, David has also directed work at the National, and the RSC (winning an Olivier award along the way) as well as BAFTA award-winning dramas for television, working alongside a plethora of major acting names. He is also noted for his celebrated working relationship with Arthur Miller.
He has also been appointed Visiting Professor or the Dramatic Arts working at the University of Bolton across 3 subject areas: the Media, Writing & Production; Creative Writing and Film & Media Studies.
David will lead a Creative Conversation about:
- Achieving symbiosis between artistic and economic success.
- Directing - the joys and the frustrations.
- The future for regional theatre.
- Increasing access to theatre.
- Plans for the Octagon, Bolton and the NW.

Selected practitioners accepted into the pool are be invited to attend each Creative Conversation. There is a fee of £8 per session which contributes to the cost of refreshments and bringing in the VIP speakers.

Creative Conversations are intimate forums for debate, discussion and informal networking for more established performing arts practitioners.
Creative Conversations take place on the first Tuesday of every month at greenroom.
