ShowStarter completes another programme

Following 14 well received events, the ShowStarter programme has now finished for the summer.

ShowStarter has a 3-week holiday

ShowStarter is having a well-earned Easter break but will be back in April with a jam-packed programme of events and some great speakers.
The next ShowStarter event is a masterclass:
‘Relationships with Venues’ on Wednesday 9th April at 2pm at Adelphi House
The panel bring together a wealth of experience and includes Andy Farrell from The Lowry, Matt Fenton from The Nuffield and Liz Richards from Lip Service.
The masterclass will look at the importance of knowing your venues and identifying the correct ones for you. There will be advice on how to approach and make initial contact with venues, how to build relationships and importantly the art of maintaining them.
There will be a discussion around these issues and the opportunity for question and answer.

ShowStarter starts again on Wednesday February 6th at 2pm with 'Setting up a performance company - a practical guide' by our very own Director of PANDA - Liz O'Neill. This session will look at the checklist of what you need to think about when starting a company, company formation and tips and hints. There will also be an opportunity for Q&A.

ShowStarter finishes for 2007

The ShowStarter programme has now finished for 2007 - time goes so quickly! The last 12 months has seen a packed programme of 50 events, there have been 180 participants and some fantastic feedback.
The new ShowStarter programme starts again on February 6th 2008, the programme will be revealed soon so watch this space.

ShowStarter has got off to a really successful start. The feedback has been excellent as has the attendance and with an average of 22 people at each session it is a massive improvement on last year.
The last session ‘Introduction to… Setting up a performing arts company’ was attended by 28 people.
A current third year BA Performing Arts student sent us the following:
‘I just wanted to let you know how much I am loving ShowStarter! All of the lectures so far have been really informative, interesting and fun. Even ones that I was not directly interested in have helped me. For example, I wasn't sure if I wanted to do a PGCE or not so I attended the lecture on it and by attending I worked out that it is definitely not for me! Sometimes in working out what you want to do, it is better to ask yourself what you do not want to do and that will help eliminate certain areas and thus help you realise what it is you do want to do and work towards it from there.
‘ShowStarter really encourages me and gives me confidence and happiness that there is support out there for performing artists and I feel so lucky to actually have access to that.’

To be eligible to attend ShowStarter events you must either be a registered PANDA member or a University of Salford student or recent graduate.
Join PANDA now.
The programme for September – December 2007 introduces different areas of the performing arts and media. Some of the sessions are specifically for Salford University final year students and some are open to all. All details of the programme and who the sessions are for can be found on Current Programme page.
