Anubhav...an experience

This piece touches on few salient features of India through its classical dance format, Bharatanatyam, from the temples of South India.

It explores the vibrant movements and exploits dynamic intensity. Beyond this it searches the depths of inner divinity with an all encompassing grandeur of music and dance.

Anubhav is a journey from pure dance to experiencing the divine. While the first piece will introduce the vocabulary of this dance form using a movement based performance, the second piece will plunge further, exploring the Lord of dance, Shiva as he dances in all grandeur.

Anubhav thus gives a taster of Indian philosophy through the medium of dance and lilting music. Supported by specially commissioned recorded music, this is performed by children and a senior dancer. While the children give a special dimension to the performance, the senior artiste, Deepa, provides further depth and maturity.

This piece has been an effective tool to experience India at various levels and has been displayed at schools workshops/ performances, park festivals, conferences and The Lowry.
