Joey Hateley, of TransAction Theatre Company, a PANDA Incubated Company 02/03Joey Hateley is Artistic Director of TransAction Theatre Company who collaborates with diverse artists to create a touring programme of high quality experimental multi-art form queer-feminist performance. TransAction’s vision is to create a ‘Performance from the Periphery’ that continually responds to, and reflects the diversity within contemporary culture. TransAction, runs a wide variety of participatory projects, workshops and training for business’s, young actors, artists, conferences, and specific interest groups. Joey performs at a variety of different kinds of events across the world in non-theatre spaces, conferences and performance events. Joey also specializes in gender power and diversity workshops, devising socio-political work, Experimental, Physical and Forum theatre. Joey is an MA graduate from Lancaster University who has taught a wide variety of socio-political educational theatre workshops for the last ten years with a wide variety of organisations.


During their Incubation TransAction completed a three week run at Oval House, a week at Contact and a nine venue tour in Autumn 2004 with their show A:Gender. They used their PANDA Incubation to help with strategic planning, set up a Board of Management, register with Companies House, and the Charities Commission, create a database of interested venues nationally and internationally.
